Co-Founder & Chief Family Support Advocate

Stephen A Clark

Xander is the founder of Family Support Scotland (also known as Anonymous Advocates) and created the service after his own long journey through social work involvement, SCRA, schools and the courts. Having seen first-hand how confusing and frightening the system can be, he wanted to build the kind of support he wishes he’d had – honest, down-to-earth and on the family’s side.

He uses his lived experience to help parents and carers understand what’s happening, prepare for meetings and feel less alone. Xander is passionate about clear, plain-English information, fairness, and making sure families are treated with dignity and respect, no matter what they’re going through.

Within the project, Xander focuses on:

Developing easy-read rights guides and resources

Providing 1-to-1 listening and support

Helping families prepare for children’s hearings and key meetings

Building a service that is anonymous, family-led and trauma-aware
